Air Freshener Wicks

Transorb SmartWicks for Air Care

Filtrona Porous Technologies' SmartWick air freshener components provide optimized fragrance transfer to the point of emanation while featuring a color change phenomenon to indicate end-of-life.

• SMARTWICKS change color from "Colored" in the working condition to "White" when the air freshener is exhausted or vice versa.

• SMARTWICKS utilize 2 color-changing technologies. In the first, SMARTWICKS are custom designed to preferentially wick a translucent oil-based fragrance followed by a colored-dye aqueous liquid. In this instance, the color change may be from clear or white (full) to colored (empty). In the second technology, our wicks combine the translucency of Filtrona Porous Technologies proprietary bonded fiber material and a colored, non-porous insert. When the wick is in the wet stage, the fiber is translucent revealing the colored insert. When the air freshener is completely dispensed (exhausted), the wick turns opaque, hiding the internal colored insert and thus being visible to the observer as white.

• SMARTWICKS may employ Neutral Displacement Technology, a unique feature of Filtrona Porous Technologies components. A non-porous, often co-extruded, insert occupying the wick core displaces the same amount of liquid as initially absorbed by the outer capillary layer of the wick. When displacement and wicking are properly matched the apparent level of liquid in the container does not change upon wick insertion, helping to avoid a "half-empty" appearance when the product is packaged.
